About the role

The Regional Director is a senior leadership role within the Desjardins Agent Network, responsible for driving strategic objectives, identifying growth opportunities, and achieving key business results. With a deep understanding of the independent Desjardins Agent business model, you will play a pivotal role in aligning agent needs with Desjardins’ products, services, and tools. This position is accountable for profitable growth and relationship management across the defined geographic region of Alberta North (Edmonton and surrounding area). More specifically you will be required to:

  • Consult with Desjardins Agents to support the development and execution of their business plans focused on Business Management; Sales Process; Team Member Development; Customer Experience & Quality
  • Drive profitable, multi-line growth within your assigned region by applying deep market knowledge and subject matter expertise to differentiate the Desjardins Agent Network—an exclusive and independent distribution model
  • Collaborate with new agent development resources to mentor and prepare candidates for the agency opportunity throughout training and field development activities, ensuring a strong foundation for future agency success
  • Identify and recommend strategic solutions to address business challenges, capitalize on market opportunities, and enhance operational systems to support both new market acquisition and retention
  • Recruit and attract top-tier talent to optimize the agency footprint and ensure alignment with regional and organizational growth priorities
  • Develop and implement regional communication and change management strategies that support Desjardins’ vision and priorities through a mix of virtual meetings, in-person sessions, study groups, and written communications
  • Act as a Brand Ambassador by consistently promoting Desjardins’ vision, cultural values, and leadership behaviours in all interactions with agents and internal partners
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration to integrate organizational capabilities and support agent success through shared goals and aligned initiatives

What you bring to the table

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field

  • A minimum of ten years of relevant experience

  • Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered

  • Experience in the insurance or financial services industry, familiarity in managing independent businesses

    Holds the following: Life License Qualification Program (LLQP) and Other Than Life (OTL) license or Completion required in the first 6 months in the role

  • Expert proficiency of English due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with English-speaking partners, members and/or clients

  • Advanced knowledge of P&C and Life Insurance products and an understanding of market conditions

  • Must have a valid driver's licence and access to a vehicle as travel within a defined area is required for this role
