Position Summary They are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Immunology Scientist with a strong background in non-animal model systems (NAM) . The ideal candidate will design, execute, and analyze immunological assays using in vitro and ex vivo human systems, such as primary human cells, organoids, tissue cultures, organ-on-a-chip, and computational models, to support drug discovery and development programs. This is a key scientific role within their translational science team aimed at replacing or reducing animal use while maintaining rigorous, human-relevant data generation.
Role And Responsibilities
- Design and conduct immunological experiments using human primary cells, 3D tissue models, organoids, or other non-animal systems.
- Develop and validate immunoassays (e.g., ELISA, ELISpot, flow cytometry, multiplex cytokine profiling).
- Develop and validate in vitro models to study immune responses, inflammation, autoimmunity, or immuno-oncology.
- Interpret data and generate high-quality reports to support regulatory submissions and sponsor communications.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with clinical, regulatory, and quality teams.
- Stay abreast of the latest advances in non-animal research models and technologies.
- Contribute to the development of standard operating procedures and best practices in immunological testing.
- Support client projects with scientific consultation, protocol development, and presentation of findings.
Qualifications REQUIREMENTS:
- B.Sc. in Immunology, Cell Biology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 35 years of experience in immunology research, with a focus on non-animal models, preferably in a CRO, biotech, or pharma setting.
- Hands-on expertise with human cell culture systems and immunological assays.
- Experience with alternative human-based models (e.g., organ-on-chip, spheroids, organoids) and familiarity with human immune cell isolation and culture.
- Proficiency in data analysis software (e.g., FlowJo, GraphPad Prism, R, or Python or equivalent).
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
PREFERRED:
- Experience with creating computational models of immune responses, or systems immunology.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and GLP/GCLP standards.
- Prior involvement in client-facing discussions or proposal writing.
