About Jewellery & Industrial Metals A wealth of applications. Umicore is an expert in developing products and processes based on precious metals such as gold, silver and platinum. These materials enable our customers to make fine jewellery, coins, high-purity glass and industrial catalysts. Umicore also enables the sustainable and responsible sourcing of these metals and provides closed-loop recycling for our customers. To make the most of these materials we cannot stand still. We need to find new ways to do things, discover new solutions and develop new processes. Which is where you come in.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Perform maintenance on equipment to keep facility operations safe and unscheduled downtime to a minimum
  • Build new equipment and make modifications to existing equipment for new product lines or new production requirements
  • Troubleshooting mechanical and electrical and hydraulic problems. Analyse root cause of problems on production/refining equipment
  • Perform building and system upgrades
  • Coordinate outside contractors, suppliers for preventative and predictive maintenance activities
  • Ensure all equipment is operating within proper safety codes including guarding
  • To perform emergency repairs on all production equipment and systems that may cause production losses, downtime or major facility losses
  • Operate forklift, lathe, saws, etc.
  • Rebuild and re-order parts to ensure supply of critical spares
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment and follow all health and safety and environmental rules
  • Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation
  • Dismantles machinery and removes/replaces defective parts
  • Determines changes in requirements of parts by inspecting and measuring various instruments
  • Maintains inventories of equipment parts and supplies by checking stock and placing orders
  • Trains production workers on routine preventive maintenance
  • Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests
  • Prepares maintenance reports by collecting, analysing, and summarizing information and trends
  • Maintain housekeeping as per standard. Maintains a safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Other duties as required

Who We Are Looking For

  • Millwright Mechanic (highly preferred), or related field and, or equivalent experience specializing in electrical. 10 years overall manufacturing experience, specifically experienced in ISO/OHSAS
  • Experience in a lead hand/supervisor role is highly desired
  • Multi certificates in technical disciplines preferred
  • Fork truck/scissor lift operator license an asset
  • Power transmission training: Hydraulic / Pneumatic / Hydrostatic / Magnetic and Mechanical
  • Welding: ARC MIG, TIG and Plastic / Operating all machine shop equipment / Plumbing and pipefitting / Ducting
  • Metal and plastic fabrication / advanced electrical / Setup and programming PLC and other control systems / Drafting (CAD) reading all types of drawing and schematics
  • Basic engineering, chemical and precious metals processing knowledge
  • This position is a replacement position
