Summary

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the HR Generalist/Office Manager is a dual role primarily focused on Human Resources, with additional office management responsibilities. As an important member of the Finance, Administrative and North American HR teams, the successful candidate will manage HR functions like recruitment, onboarding, payroll and benefits administration, policy and compliance, while also handling office logistics, supplies, and employee support to ensure a smooth and efficient work environment.

Job Summary

This is an ideal role for someone looking to be involved with the full scope of the HR function within an organization. The successful candidate will work closely with Senior Management to guide health and safety programs, manage organizational policies, administrate employee matters, and lead team building and development initiatives. The person in this position is an independent, efficient, pro-active, action-oriented and customer service-oriented individual with sincerity, integrity and capable of possessing confidential information about our business and employees

HR Responsibilities

  • Manage payroll requirements and reporting
  • Administer compensation and benefits
  • Manage new employee recruitment and selection
  • Manage onboarding and orientation of new hires' integration into the company
  • Manage and implement employee training systems and management development
  • Implement and monitor performance evaluation system
  • Manage employee relations and foster a positive work environment.
  • Maintain the human resources information system and employee database
  • Proactively demonstrate Federal and Ontario Health and Safety work practices
  • Coordinate office staff activities and company events
  • Perform review and analysis of special projects and keep Management informed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Organize and oversee adherence to office policies, operations and procedures
  • Manage relationships with vendors and service providers
  • Manage office supplies, equipment, and facilities
  • Ensure security, integrity and confidentiality of data
  • Maintain a safe, secure and pleasant work environment
  • Greet guests, address enquiries promptly and professionally through company communication systems
  • Provide general administrative support to employees, such as scheduling and travel arrangements
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in a Human Resources role
  • Strong working knowledge of Ontario employment legislation and requirements
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now -Payroll, Time & Attendance, Performance Evaluation platforms
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact and build relationships
  • Self-motivated, self-directed and organized
  • Works equally well in a team environment or independently
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Solid experience in the Microsoft Office environment using Excel, Outlook, Word, & PowerPoint
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Proven experience in meeting tight deadlines

Education:

  • Degree/Diploma in Human Resources Management
  • CHRP Designation is an asset
