About the role
Our Public Practice client is growing and adding a Senior Staff Accountant to their expanding CPA firm. Based in Edmonton, 100% on-site 5 days a week, this role reports to a Partner, with growth opportunities within the firm. If you are enrolled in the CPA program, near designation, or internationally designated and pursuing the Canadian CPA, we want to hear from you.
Responsibilities:
- Preparing compilation, review, and audit engagement files, financial statements, corporate income tax returns, year-end closing and reporting, and government reporting (i.e. quarterly GST remittances)
- Supervising the preparation of financial statements of business clients, and completing complex portions of the file
- Prepare personal income tax returns
- GST reporting and reconciliations
- Train and mentor junior accounting staff
- Report progress of engagement to Manager and Partner
Qualifications:
- CPA designation, or near final stages of completion OR Internationally designated (ACCA) and pursuing Canadian CPA
- 2+ years of public practice experience required
- Strong understanding of Audit and Assurance fundamentals
- Experience in CaseWare, Jazz-it, TaxCycle & Quickbooks Online
- Ability to multi-task, work independently, meet deadlines and learn quickly
