Surface Science Western (SSW) is a premier institution renowned for its expertise in materials and surface analysis. Our team is comprised of nationally and internationally acclaimed scientists from diverse disciplines, each bringing a wealth of knowledge and unique qualifications to the table. With a proven track record of over 500 publications and eight patents, our experts are at the forefront of innovation in surface analysis and materials characterization. Boasting over 250 people-years of combined experience, SSW is dedicated to providing unparalleled scientific solutions and insights. Responsibilities
Responsibilities:

Working mainly with the mineralogy and mineral processing team, assisting other SSW team members as needed.

Follow procedures and practices with a high attention to detail related to preparation of mineral samples, panning, metallography and thin specimen preparations
-
Laboratory work with various chemicals and mineral samples, other materials
-
Analysis of samples with optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM/EDX) and other surface analysis techniques.

Data collection and analysis, assistance with team reporting, literature collection and analysis
-
Must follow laboratory health and safety guidelines

Must comply with applicable confidentiality requirement

experience operating a dynamic secondary ion mass spectrometer (D-SIMS)’ is important
Obligations: During your employment, you will report to Carolyn Hill-Svehla and Baian Almusned or such other supervisor as the University may direct. You will be expected to carry out the responsibilities outlined above and other related work in a competent and efficient fashion. If you have any problems or questions you will be expected to bring them either to your supervisor, or if your supervisor is not available, to the Facilities Manager or Director.
