As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (Microbiology) in Yellowknife, you’ll play a vital role in delivering high-quality diagnostic services across the Northwest Territories and Kitikmeot Region of Nunavut.

Salaries start at $96,876 - $115,733 plus $23,700 - $24,900 in paid benefits within the first year. Working closely with a collaborative team and under the guidance of the Technical Supervisor, you’ll provide Microbiology, Mycobacteriology, and Environmental Bacteriology testing that directly supports patient care and public health. The Technical Supervisor, Microbiology on site acts as a first contact on Laboratory Medicine and provides on all Microbiology related matters in absence of a resident pathologist.

Our lab processes over 15,000 samples a month, serving Stanton Territorial Hospital, regional health centres, public health offices, and northern industries. If you're passionate about meaningful lab work, tight-knit teams, and making a difference in northern healthcare, we’d love to meet you.

The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) - Yellowknife Region provides community health, primary health care and social service programs to the people of Yellowknife, N’Dilo, Dettah, Lutsel K'e, and Fort Resolution. Also located in Yellowknife is the Stanton Territorial Hospital and its Specialist Clinics, the Stanton Ophthalmology Clinic, the Mental Health Clinic and the Health Promotion and Protection branch.

Requirements

This job typically requires a recognized Medical Laboratory Technology Program at a minimum of a diploma or degree level from an accredited Canadian Post-Secondary Institution. Internationally trained Medical Laboratory Technologists must have at least three (3) years of working experience in a Canadian Hospital Laboratory as a Medical Laboratory Technologist working in a core laboratory. Applicants must have recent, relevant experience (within the past five years) in a Canadian Hospital Microbiology Laboratory. These are bona fide requirements; equivalencies will not be considered.
