Director, Camp Programs

Location: Primarily Milton (on-site during delivery); Hybrid (Fall/Winter/Spring minimum 2 days/week on Appleby Campus)
Type: Full-time Permanent
Salary Range: $70,000 - $75,000

Appleby College is seeking a strategic and dynamic Director, Camp Programs to lead our new offsite camp operations. HOW YOU WILL THRIVE:

As the Director, you will bring leadership and operational excellence to our expanding camp programs. Your role will be pivotal in shaping camper experiences, building staff culture, and driving continuous program innovation. You'll cultivate strong community connections while ensuring the highest standards in safety, inclusion, and customer care.

HOW YOU WILL SUCCEED:

  • Lead the safe and efficient delivery of Appleby’s offsite summer camp program.
  • Directly manage seasonal leadership teams including 3 Program Directors and 1 Administrator.
  • Recruit, train, and evaluate a team of 50–70 seasonal staff with support from the HR Manager.
  • Set operational strategy, pricing, and customer service standards in collaboration with leadership.
  • Coordinate all aspects of program delivery: safety, facilities, incident response, parent communications.
  • Promote the program in the local community via school visits, events, and partnerships.
  • Drive post-season debriefs and ongoing innovation in camp programming and staff training.
  • Represent Appleby on the Risk Management Committee and ensure OCA compliance.
  • Ensure all materials, facilities, and schedules meet readiness and operational benchmarks.

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • Post-secondary education and a background in recreation, education, or a related field.
  • Strong leadership experience in camp management and youth engagement.
  • Advanced crisis response and decision-making capabilities.
  • Demonstrated excellence in team leadership, planning, and customer service.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and camp software (e.g., CampBrain, Access).
  • Valid driver’s license; current Advanced First Aid & CPR.
