Hourly Wage Range: $42.41 - $43.55

Overview**:**
We are seeking a reliable and motivated Heavy Duty Mechanic Apprentice (3rd or 4th year) to join the maintenance department at our mill in Golden, B.C. As a Heavy Duty Mechanic Apprentice at PWT, you will be developing your skills while performing maintenance and repairs on complex equipment with appropriate supervision in a safe and professional manner.
Duties and Responsibilities**:**
- Diagnose and troubleshoot engine management, fuel, electronic and mechanical systems
- Perform accurate and complete vehicle inspections, diagnostics, and repairs
- Perform road tests to verify operator concerns and successful vehicle repair
- Utilize EAM to document new work orders and log hours worked on equipment
- Ensure daily work hours are documented in EAM against work orders
- Liaise with parts/service personnel to ensure smooth workflow and accurate communication
- Maintain shop tooling/equipment
- Interpret service orders and technical manuals/service information
- Collect parts lists and complete work estimates when required
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance and ensure that work meets manufacturer specifications
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment
- Participate in all required training/certifications
- Complete detailed and accurate inspection reports and service orders
- Demonstrate professionalism and a commitment to learning and development
- Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery
- Collaborate with management and other department personnel in a professional manner
- Contribute to a positive, team-oriented work environment
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
Required Education, Certification, and Experience**:**
- Currently enrolled as a 3rd or 4th Year Heavy Duty Mechanic Apprentice in B.C.
- Committed to achieving Heavy Duty Mechanic Red Seal in B.C.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and submit a clean Driver’s Abstract
- Class 1 or 3 Driver’s License with Air Brakes is an asset
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**:**
- Ability to maintain a focus on safety in all tasks, follow pre-work procedures, and fill out FLHA documentation prior to starting tasks
- Ability to read and decipher electrical schematics
- Excellent mechanical analysis and problem-solving skills
- Effective diagnostic aptitude, with strong time-management skills
- Proficient with computers and computer management systems
- Ability to multitask and stay focused and organized in a fast-paced environment
- Meet the vision abilities required, including up-close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment
- Ability to meet the mandatory requirements of standing, sitting, walking, bending, working with tools, speaking, and hearing
- Ability to meet the requirement to use arms and hands in order to reach and grasp items/equipment
- Must be able to meet the physical fitness demands of the job and to lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work efficiently and reliably, whether on your own or part of a team
- Well-developed interpersonal skills
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and changing priorities
- Flexibility to work on both weekdays and weekends
