Salary: $5,719 – 5,957 – 6,200 – 6,460 – 6,730/month (2024 Rates)
Schedule: 70 hours bi-weekly; Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM – 4:45 PM (Nine-Day Fortnight)

This position works in the Development organizational unit. The role includes technical, clerical and drafting work, gathering and preparing diverse information relative to a variety of municipal planning matters. The Planning Assistant 3 researches, collects, analyzes, and reports to a supervisor on specific aspects of planning projects such as development inquiries and bylaws or policy matters. Assignments also include the processing of various permits and approvals, such as temporary use permits, development variance permits, and signage permits, or supporting rezoning or development permit applications. Responsibilities include assembling a variety of data from available sources to assist professional staff in their reply to specific requests for information and in their preparation of reports dealing with a wide range of planning matters. Performs related work as required.
Qualifications include completion of grade 12 supplemented by drafting and technical courses or an equivalent combination of training or experience. The successful candidate has considerable knowledge of the bylaws, department policies, practices and procedures. Sound knowledge of research, reporting, and land use or signage permit review applicable to municipal planning work. Sound knowledge of drafting, layout and graphic presentation methods and techniques applicable to municipal planning work. A Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia is required.
