Job Description:

As a key member of the communications team, you will work with Business Partners from the Real Estate Secured Lending (RESL) and Operations businesses to plan, create and execute communications strategies and tactics for internal and external audiences that are consistent with TD’s corporate standards and drive business results.

Key Accountabilities Include:

  • Establish effective relationships with different Stakeholders, Business Sponsors, Executives and Lines of Business.
  • Work closely with business partners to understand their objectives, direction, ongoing initiatives and provide strategic and tactical communications recommendations leveraging your expertise and communications best practices.
  • Develop and manage the execution of internal/external strategic and tactical communications on behalf of business partners, helping to elevate the TD brand with key stakeholders, customers and prospects.
  • Manage on-going relationships with key business partners and/or third parties to coordinate internal/external communication activities and deliverables.
  • Assist in developing and delivering key messages, applying internal communication standards and best practices.
  • Ensure a high level of service and quality by setting clear standards and continuously assessing the effectiveness of approaches, processes and documentation, incorporating lessons learned into future projects/programs.
  • Actively work to resolve escalated issues and manage changes within the project, program or initiative.
  • Act as a recognized communications expert, provide advice and guidance to colleagues and business partners on applying and maintaining TD brand standards.
  • Ensure established processes are followed and deliver all projects on strategy, on time, on budget and error free.
  • Work closely with the Creative Services team to develop and deliver attractive, compelling communications that are on brand.
  • Act as a brand ambassador for communications and the bank, both internally and/or externally.
  • Protect the interests of the organization – identify and manage risks, and escalate non-standard, activities as necessary.
  • Maintain a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite.
  • Provide strategic counsel and guidance to key business partners to ensure adherence to brand / corporate standards and best practices.
  • Maintain an understanding of TD businesses and products, keep current with key business developments within TD, emerging strategies, capabilities and/or trends to deliver effective communications solutions.
  • Participate in business scoping and planning sessions, proactively providing partners with advice and expertise on recommended communications solutions and/or tactics.
  • Keep abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts.
  • Share knowledge, information, skills, and subject matter expertise among the team, ensure the timely communication of issues and encourage good working relationships with other functions and teams.
  • Prioritize and manage own workload to meet service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Consistently exercise discretion in managing potentially sensitive information and all matters of confidentiality.
  • Apply subject matter expertise and provide communications thought leadership, expert guidance, assistance and direction to others.
  • Proactively manage relationships and actively work to resolve escalated issues and manage changes within the project, program or initiative.
  • Monitor service levels, productivity and assess efficiency within own function and implement continuous process / performance improvements wherever opportunities exist.
  • Participate fully as a member of the team, support a positive work environment that amplifies the CPB Rally Cry, promotes service to the business, quality, innovation and teamwork.

Candidate Requirements:

The successful candidate will have:

  • A minimum five years of experience managing communications in a corporate or consulting environment.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with a track record of developing influential, creative and clear communications materials, including emails, social media and online content for internal and external audiences.
  • Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills, with an ability to drive results independently.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with communications best practices and experience in internal communications delivery / execution.
  • Experience executing an integrated communications approach with other business areas, the broader organization / enterprise as appropriate
  • Experience providing communications counsel to senior leaders and diverse business partners.
  • Be a strategic and innovative thinker.
  • Ability to influence decision makers within large cross-functional teams in a complex organization.
  • Ability to juggle multiple, changing priorities and manage time and resources to deliver high quality work under pressure.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Energetic individual who can manage ambiguity and thrives in a changing environment.
  • University degree in communications, liberal arts, business or a related field.
