The Strathmore Fire Department is now accepting applications for Paid-on-Call Firefighters. We’re looking for dedicated individuals who are passionate about public safety, thrive in high-pressure situations, and want to be part of something bigger.

What You’ll Do:

The Firefighter is responsible for supporting a safe community and enhancing the quality of life for the citizens by responding to emergencies to help minimize injuries and loss of life or damage to property. Firefighter also helps to prevent fires and other emergencies through public education and inspections to ensure properties meet fire regulations and other safety requirements.

Successful applicants will demonstrate on their resume:

· Firefighters will have completed the probationary firefighter program as outlined in the SOGs.

· Valid AB driver’s license

· NFPA 1001 Level 1

· Reside in acceptable proximity to the fire station

In the interview we will be looking for the following competencies:

Adaptability- Adapts quickly to change and easily considers new approaches.

Planning and Prioritization - Plans and organizes work activities; manages several tasks at once.

Collaboration - Works cooperatively with others, inside and outside the organization, to accomplish objectives to build and maintain mutually beneficial partnerships, leverage information, and achieve results.
