Position Overview
Reporting to the Director, Quality and Health Records and operating in a manner consistent with HGH’s mission, vision and values, the Manager, Quality and Risk Management assists and facilitates the various HGH activities for quality improvement, risk management, and patient experience.
The Manager works with teams across HGH to support a culture of continuous quality improvement in order to meet the corporate goal of fostering a strong culture of quality and safety, performance and accountability. The Manager, Quality and Risk Management plays a key role in advising and assisting management staff to promote quality of care, reduce risk of harm to patients and ensure a positive patient experience across the organization.
The Manager is a key contact for the hospital’s Risk and Incident Management System (RIMS), Document Managent System (PolicyMedical), and patient experience surveying platform (Qualtrics). The Manager will play a key role in ensuring alignment between the various patient safety, incident management and risk management functions and will assist in all necessary and ongoing education to HGH teams, leaders and physicians.
The Manager is HGH’s main Patient Relations delegate, responsible for ensuring timely responses, investigations and resolutions to all feedback received at HGH in a way that is consistent with the Excellent Care for All Act.

What we are looking for
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Quality Improvement or a related field
- Masters Degree will be considered an asset
- 3 years of relevant experience in Patient Relations, Quality Improvement, Risk Management, Document Management, Patient Experience, Accreditation and/or Clinical experience
- Fluent written and spoken French and English
- Knowledge of Accreditation Canada requirements and processes
- Knowledge of legislation applicable to the role: Quality of Care Information Protection Act (QCIPA), Excellent Care for All Act (ECFAA), Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA), Public Hospitals Act (PHA)
- Competence in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Failure Mode Event Analysis (FMEA).
- Competence in statistical analysis and the use of large amounts of data to measure key indicators of quality.
- Excellent knowledge of quality improvement processes, quality scorecards.
- Valid driver’s license and ability and willingness to travel and work in various urban and rural settings/environments: e.g. satellite offices.
