Position Summary
Elite Developments is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to lead the preparation of accurate cost estimates and manage budgets for residential and commercial construction projects. This role is critical in ensuring financial feasibility and supporting successful project delivery. As a Senior Estimator, you will analyze tender documents, collaborate with stakeholders, and oversee cost control processes, driving efficiency and excellence in project execution.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Estimation Leadership: Lead the preparation of accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for residential and commercial construction projects, covering materials, labor, equipment, and other project expenses.
Tender Document Analysis: Analyze tender documents, blueprints, and project specifications to identify risks, opportunities, and cost-saving strategies.
Budget Management: Develop and oversee project budgets, ensuring alignment with client requirements and financial goals. Monitor and control costs throughout the project lifecycle.
Collaboration & Negotiation: Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure accurate project scopes and competitive pricing. Negotiate with vendors and suppliers to secure favorable terms.
Value Engineering: Identify and implement cost-efficient solutions while maintaining quality and project functionality.
Market Research: Stay updated on industry trends, material pricing, and market conditions to improve accuracy in cost estimation.
Process Improvement: Develop and implement standardized estimating tools, systems, and practices to streamline operations and enhance efficiency.
Mentorship & Team Development: Mentor junior estimators and team members, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and professional growth.
Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate cost estimates and project updates effectively with clients, senior management, and other stakeholders.
Qualifications
A degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
A minimum of 5–7 years of progressive experience in construction estimating, with at least 2 years in a senior estimating or leadership role.
Proficiency in cost estimating software (e.g., Timberline, Bluebeam, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, materials, and local market pricing.
Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills to manage diverse teams and maintain stakeholder relationships.
Professional Estimator Certification (e.g., from AACE or ASPE) is preferred.
Familiarity with local building codes, permitting processes, and regulations.
Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
