We’re hiring an Outage Communications Specialist to play a critical role in how ENMAX Power communicates with customers during planned and unplanned outages. In this position, you’ll coordinate and lead the planning, messaging, and stakeholder engagement to ensure customers are informed, disruptions are minimized, and regulatory obligations are met. You'll work with internal teams, government bodies, special interest groups, and the public, helping us deliver clear, consistent, and timely information across all channels. Major Responsibilities
- Coordinate all planned transmission and distribution system maintenance outages, prioritizing the needs of both internal and external entities.
- Anticipate problems, facilitate complex solutions for issue management, ranging from simple (one department involved) to complex escalations (involving multiple internal and external touchpoints)
- Develop and implement issues management strategies for transmission and distribution project service disruptions, working with relevant internal and external parties.
- Develop and implement risk management and external communications strategies for transmission and distribution service disruptions, within ENMAX Power.
- Liaise with internal teams to collect relevant data to assess customer and business impacts to service disruptions, providing expert advice and managing the execution of required communications.
- Provide on-site assistance, when required, for the preparation or dissemination of external communications.
- Conceptualize and develop proactive communications and tools to support transmission and distribution projects.
- Provide immediate customer support for unplanned system incidents, as requested by the Senior On-call Incident Command Structure.
- Analyze systems, such as ArcFM GIS tools, to identify affected customers and critical infrastructure.
- Support the management and sustainment of information management tools and technologies for ENMAX Power, as it relates to all transmission and distribution projects and issues management.
- Enhance customer experience and aid operational efficiencies; providing technical coaching and leadership, as required.
- Track engagement efforts, including developing reports summarizing key findings and trends as they relate to outage management or other relevant customer experience initiatives.
- Assist with outreach efforts to create awareness and advocate for the customer experience, while monitoring customer sentiment and adapting outreach strategies.
- Develop, maintain, and own procedural documents to ensure consistency and compliance with organizational standards and regulations.
- Represent the business unit at re-occurring or one-time cross-functional meetings.
Education Required
- Degree or diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related field
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in communications or another public relations field with an emphasis on strategic planning and writing
- Strong technical writing skills and a demonstrated knowledge of Canadian Press Style
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint)
- Knowledge and understanding of project coordination is considered an asset
- Knowledge of GIS tools, such as ArcFM, is considered an asset
- Knowledge of the Alberta Electric Industry and Calgary Electric System is considered an asset
- Learn new technologies, software and programs is considered an asset

Salary: Communications Level B/C (Current CUPE 2025 rates)
$86,850.76 - $92,266.54 - $97,702.15 - $103,117.92 - $108,553.54
Location: This role will be part of our hybrid (home and office) work force with office workspace located at ENMAX Place (141 - 50th Avenue SE, Calgary, AB). You will work from home on Mondays and Fridays and in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
