Job Summary
Come work as a Obstetrics/Gynaecology Physician with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)!
An exciting opportunity is available to join the perinatal service in beautiful Squamish, BC. The Department of OBGYN is currently recruiting for two full-time permanent OBGYN physicians to work in the community of Squamish, within the Sea to Sky corridor.
Outpatient services will be delivered within a clinic setting equipped with necessary support infrastructure, including a dedicated Medical Office Assistant and access to an Electronic Medical Records system. Elective gynecology surgeries will be performed at Squamish General Hospital. OR time at Lions Gate Hospital will be available for complex cases, with the specific allocation to be negotiated.
Squamish Hospital currently has almost 400 births/year with the potential for growth in this expanding community. Patients with obstetrical, medical and/or surgical risk factors will be referred to Lions Gate Hospital for care. In addition, Squamish General Hospital has a Level 2 BC Maternal and Neonatal Tier of service, so cases less than 36 weeks gestational age are referred to other hospitals.
The successful candidate will be expected to apply for and hold a clinical appointment with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of British Columbia. As a clinical faculty member, the successful candidate will be expected to involve learners in clinical activity and participate in program development and student evaluation. There is also an affiliation and collaboration with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Lions Gate Hospital site in North Vancouver, as well as other sites in the Coastal Community of Care, including Sechelt and Powell River.
Squamish residents are privileged to live less than an hour from Whistler’s world-renowned downhill ski & snowboard terrain, and the Callaghan Valley Cross Country Ski area. Outside of ski season, mountain bike terrain of all kinds is easily accessible, while those who prefer climbing, hiking, kayaking, kiteboarding, sailing or paddle boarding, can easily stay entertained.
Consider all that a practice in the Sea to Sky corridor has to offer, whether for work or for play!
