This is a temporary opportunity up to 24 months in duration. Salary Grade: T05 From: $71,098.79 Candidates with prior experience at the WSIB will be given preference. Job Summary: The Technology Development Program is an immersive 24-month rotational program for emerging talent in the Corporate Services and Technology Cluster. This program provides exposure and hands-on work experience across three fundamental streams: software development, cyber security and data, analytics, and AI, in addition to fostering WSIB acumen and providing networking, learning and leadership development opportunities.
Participants will support the WSIB’s transformational business objectives by contributing innovative thought leadership, conducting research, and providing recommendations on leading technologies and business processes. Participants will also build strategic and technical knowledge across in-demand disciplines, and influence future-focused decision making for the Corporate Services and Technology Cluster.
Major Responsibilities:
- Cyber Security Stream:
- Assist in the development and implementation of security policies and procedures.
- Conduct security assessments and vulnerability testing.
- Respond to security incidents, supporting the resolution process.
- Develop and deliver presentations on multiple topics to support the education and awareness of cyber security.
- Data, Analytics, and AI Stream:
- Analyze large datasets to uncover business insights and enable data-driven decision making.
- Develop and deploy machine learning and AI models and algorithms.
- Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Software Development Stream:
- Design, code, and test software applications
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvements.
- In addition to the specific responsibilities within each stream, all program members will work on initiatives that promote cross functional learning, strategic thinking, and insight into the current and future technology landscape. Participants will:
- Conduct in-depth research on new and emerging technologies to assess potential applications.
- Assess the impact of potential applications to customer experience and business processes including possible FTE implications.
- Support the implementation of technologies including the development of use cases and business process re-engineering.
- Prepare organizational position papers and whitepapers summarizing findings on specific technologies and industry trends, including their potential use cases, challenges and strategic implications for the organization.
- Develop actionable strategic recommendations for technology adoption and deployment, considering both short-term value and alignment long-term organizational priorities.
- Execute on the development of proofs of concept and proofs of technology on emerging technologies, documenting outcomes.
- Present findings, position papers, and recommendations to senior leaders, gaining exposure to executive decision-making processes, and receiving direct feedback on ideas and strategies.
Job Requirements:
- Education requirements:
Minimum Level Required
- Undergraduate degree in computer science, data science, software engineering, systems design, Cybersecurity related discipline, or equivalent.
Preferred Level
- Enrolled in master’s degree in computer science, data science, software engineering, systems design, Cybersecurity or related discipline.
- Cybersecuirty stream only:
- One or more technical training/certificates or InfoSec certification, for example:
- Network & Web Application Penetration Testing, Advanced Firewall. Administration, Network Access Control, Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems, CISSP SANS / GIAC, Cisco CCNA Security, Comp TIA Security + Microsoft Certified IT Professional.
- Data, Analytics, & AI Stream: Experience with machine learning methodologies, data wrangling tools and techniques, Azure Data Science Associate or Azure Data Engineer Associate.
- Software Development Stream: relevant projects with React Native / React JS and other web technologies; experience with Back-end solutions (Node JS and Python), Database technologies and hosting services, Azure Developer Associate.
- Experience:
Minimum Level Required
- Minimum eight (8) months of combined work experience in Cybersecurity, Data analytics, AI, data engineering, system design, or software development.
Preferred Level
- Minimum one (1) year of combined work experience in Cybersecurity, Data analytics, AI, data engineering, system design, or software development.
- Background should include strong elements of communications, technology, innovation and/or product management.
