The following Sessional Lecturer positions are available in the Department of Arts, Culture and Media for the Fall 2025 academic session. In accordance with the Collective Agreement, this posting is being sent as an email notification to all applicants in the Department’s Applicant Pool: all Sessional Lecturers who are teaching for the Department during the current academic year or who have taught for the Department since September 1, 2005, and all persons who have submitted an application within the past twenty-four months. Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with 14:12.

All applicants to Studio Art positions must also include the following materials combined into a SINGLE PDF: a 1 to 2 page cover letter highlighting your qualifications for the position, a current CV, 5 to 10 samples of recent artistic work relevant to the position, 5 to 10 samples of student work if available, and the names/contact information of 2 to 3 references.
Salary: in accordance with the current CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement, the stipend rate for a half course (Y, F or S), inclusive of vacation pay, will be:
Sessional Lecturer I: $9,820.50
Sessional Lecturer I – Long Term (Six or more years as SL I): $10,510.04
Sessional Lecturer II: $10,510.04
Sessional Lecturer III: $10,760.28
Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.
Sessional Dates (excluding Exam period): F courses: Sep. 2 – Dec. 2, 2025
Note: all positions involve completion of any course grading not finished by December 31, 2025 for F courses.

VPSB90H3F Digital Animation II
A project based course, building upon concepts developed in VPSB89H3 Introduction to Digital Animation. Students will refine their control of sound, movement, and image quality. This course will also introduce three-dimensional wire frame and ray-tracing techniques for constructing convincing 3-D animated objects and scenes as they apply to contemporary artistic practices.

All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; participation in Studio’s exhibitions and guest lecture opportunities on campus; development, administration and marking of assignments and final portfolios; calculation and submission of grades; holding regular office hours. Applicant to work closely with permanent faculty.
Teaching experience at the university level. Instructor must have expertise in teaching advanced techniques for digital animation using a range of digital tools including Blender, Animate CC, Photoshop CC, AfterEffects CC, Premiere CC, and Audition CC. Must be able to teach experimental narrative and non-narrative animation projects for a contemporary media arts and interdisciplinary arts context. A comprehensive knowledge of contemporary and conceptual art practices as it relates to animation is required. Instructor must have an active practice with animation as the primary part of that practice. An exhibition history involving animation in a range of contexts is required.
