ABOUT THE ROLE

The Manager of Live-in Treatment is responsible for providing a safe and therapeutic environment for all children in the Live-in Treatment Program, this includes overseeing the full daily operation and upholding Ministry Residential Licensing Standards. This role is vital in implementing client treatment plans, overseeing client admissions and discharges, providing regular training to front-line staff and working with service providers and family members/caregivers in various stages of the treatment program. The Manager of Live-in Treatment provides staff with support and coaching, ensuring assessments and interventions are linked to comprehensive treatment plans as prescribed by legislation and industry best practice, including working closely with child welfare and Ministry representatives focusing on standards of care, licensing requirements and bed utilization within the region.

Employment Status: Permanent Full-Time

Location: Queensville Site, this position will require travel within York Region.

Hours of Work: Forty (40) hours per week, including evenings, weekend work and on-call support on a rotational schedule.

Salary Range: $86,645 to $91,922

A LOOK AT YOUR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Clinical Management Responsibilities

  • Ensure service delivery in live-in treatment complies with legislative and accreditation standards, including the Quality Standard Framework, Child, Youth and Family Services Act, Committee Consultation Assessment Services, and Ministry Residential Licensing Standards.
  • Collaborate with the Manager of Clinical Services, provides clinical leadership support through maintaining knowledge of industry best practices and models for live-in treatment care that effectively meet the needs of clients.
  • Participate in the screening, assessment and orientation of clients entering the Live-in Treatment Program.
  • Provide direct support and guidance to Child and Youth Workers related to behaviour management and treatment implementation.
  • Support in the maintenance of the home milieu setting, ensuring cleanliness, organization, and upkeep of the living space, specifically client rooms, bathrooms, grounds and common space.
  • Support client well-being by ensuring routine medical care (e.g., medical, dental, optometry) is received, including arranging transportation to healthcare providers.
  • Facilitate therapeutic and treatment group meetings, including regular house meetings to obtain client feedback and to address concerns following agency-approved models.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-sector service provider partners (e.g., school boards/ teachers) and facilitates and attends meetings as needed.
  • Work closely with Managers from other programs (e.g. Day Treatment, Clinical Services) to ensure collaboration between staff, effective planning for shared clients, and coordinated services between programs.
  • Work closely with Clinical Manager(s) to ensure program assessment processes are followed to determine the eligibility for intensive programs and services in a timely manner, utilizing a client-focused and solution-focused approach to minimize vacancies and length of stay.
  • Support in addressing all requests for records, verification of services and support letters.
  • Implement quality assurance and evaluation processes that involve monitoring, collection, recording of clinical and service data, including submitting data in a timely manner and in accordance with internal policies and procedures.

Program Management Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily functioning of the program, including program structures and routines, treatment planning of clients, supervision of staff, and maintenance of building and operational needs.
  • Facilitate regular team meetings to discuss administrative, clinical and learning concerns that impact the team and/or clients, including assisting staff in problem-solving and providing knowledge-based sharing of industry best practices.
  • Provide timely review of reports and ensures reporting timelines are followed.
  • Work collaboratively with the Manager of Operations to maintain health and safety, licensing, accreditation, and other legislative requirements.
  • Develop, implement and maintain program procedures and guidelines that meet the highest standards of practice.
  • Work collaboratively with child welfare partners and other referral sources to ensure clear communication, collaboration, and integrated planning around children and youth.
  • Attend all Live-in Treatment Centralized Intake meetings, reviews all program referrals, and maintains oversight of the waitlist for live-in treatment.
  • Work in consultation with the Director of Corporate Services to ensure expenses remain within budgetary limits.
  • Ensure effective procurement processes are in place to acquire office and home resources within financial parameters.
  • Schedule, co-facilitate, and attend applicable client meetings as prescribed by Ministry licensing standards.
  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to ensure effective communication pertaining to client treatment plan development, progress and integration.
  • Maintain a system of documentation and reporting that is consistent with quality assurance standards and procedures, legislation, accreditation and best practices.
  • Actively participates in licensing and accreditation processes, including annual Ministry licensing review and renewal.
  • Coordinates and supervises college and university student placements within the Live-in Treatment Program.
  • Acts as backup to the Manager of Live-in Treatment for the other Live-in Treatment program in their absence.

Administrative Personnel Management Responsibilities

  • Ensure the completion of program orientation and training in accordance with licensing requirements, internal policies and procedures.
  • Provide supervision on a bi-weekly basis with program coordinators and supports in providing supervision to Child and Youth Workers unassigned to program coordinators.
  • Manage and/or delegate administrative task to program coordinators to address scheduling gaps, productivity and workload expectations.
  • Maintain the training and development plan for program staff based on agency clinical constructs and approved models (e.g. including Medication administration, CPR-First Aid, etc.).
  • Ensure staff receive adequate supervision in approved treatment models to maintain fidelity and up-to-date certification and credentials (e.g. Zones of Regulation).
  • Ensure staff maintain and enhance learning objectives required for their role and develop individual performance improvement plans as needed.
  • Attend meetings, training sessions and workshops as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • Completion of a post-secondary diploma or degree in a related discipline such as Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Social Services, Human Services and/or a combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience working with children and youth in a Live-in Treatment Program.
  • Minimum three (3) years of staff supervisory experience.
  • Foundational knowledge of quality assurance principles.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, including editing skills with attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of child and youth mental health programs, child welfare, education systems and relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Effective prioritization of people management, crisis management and solution-based problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to effectively build trust, rapport and foster collaboration with colleagues, ministry representatives and community professionals.
  • Experience in policy development, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and risk management best practice.
  • Competence in modelling professionalism and maintaining a high level of confidentiality.
  • Competent in trauma-informed practice, child development, and child and youth care relational practice.
  • Knowledge of mental health challenges and behaviours, including the developmental stages of children and families.
  • A willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekend work and on-call support on a rotational schedule.
  • Experience utilizing a variety of interventions and maintaining a high level of confidentiality.
  • Ability to demonstrate sound decision-making in an intensive environment.
  • Employs emotional intelligence to manager and co-regulate self and client during intensive situations.
  • Experience utilizing suicide risk assessments and intervention skills.
  • Demonstrate versatility in the ability to work independently and collaboratively to achieve program goals.
  • Possess skills to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Functional technological skills (e.g., Office 365, MS Office, SharePoint, software applications).
  • Awareness and appreciation for the dynamics of equity issues (diversity, equity and inclusion), especially as it relates to gender, ethnicity, race, and economic status.
