Type: Replacement Regular Full Time, 37.5 hrs/week Job Description The Clinical Manager will support the Centre for Headache, Substance Use Services, Wellness for Independent Seniors Program and Endocrinology programs and is responsible for the human and fiscal resources of their teams. Collaborating with the Clinical Director, Chief of Medicine, Medical Directors and other internal and external stakeholders, the Clinical Manager will implement the key elements of the Women’s College Hospital Strategic Plan and the vision for Ambulatory Care Services.
Summary Serving as an inspirational leader for their teams the Clinical Manager, will demonstrate an approachable leadership style with experience in change management. Summary of duties, but not limited to:
- In collaboration with the Health Care Team builds a culture that is focused on ensuring safety and best practices while delivering high levels of patient satisfaction
- Works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, to plan and co-ordinate the implementation of new programs and services with outcomes focused on excellence in patient care and fiscal responsibilities
- Leads and focuses the Health Care Teams’ efforts to develop a plan to identify, monitor and minimize high-risk situations ensuring a safe work and patient care environment
- Develops the annual operational and capital budget (in collaboration with the Clinical Director, Finance and Human Resources) for the utilization of resources, including staff, equipment, supplies and space
- Manages and develops human resources to ensure the department operates in a manner that is efficient and outcome responsive, including the development and implementation of staff recruitment and retention strategies (in collaboration with Clinical Director and Human Resources)
- Establishes and monitors performance expectations, and takes appropriate action in collaboration with Human Resources when required
- Manages employee and labour relations issues including workload, vacation scheduling, attendance management etc.
- Ensures a continuous focus on patient experience improvement by developing an open process to respond to patient care issues that includes participation of the Health Care Team
- In collaboration with Clinical Director and health care team plans, coordinates and implements program/service projects, evaluating projects upon completion and taking remedial action as necessary
As a role model and champion you will work to identify and integrate safe, best practices into daily activities to foster the delivery of safe and exemplary care.

Qualifications
- Successful completion of an Undergraduate degree in Health Sciences such as Nursing or other regulated health professional field required
- Masters’ degree preferred and/or plans for enrollment
- Current registration in good standing with a Regulatory College (related to a given health profession)
- Ten (10) years of progressively responsible and related experience required
- Five (5) years recent experience in a managerial or similar leadership role preferred.
- Experience working in a hospital environment preferred
- Knowledge of collective agreements and managing a unionized labour force
- Excellent human and financial resource management and strategic planning skills required
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship building, coaching, mentoring and team building skills that facilitation positive interactions with health care team
- Excellent organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills required to coordinate multiple activities, issues and projects simultaneously
- Collaborative and client service oriented with the proven ability to work effectively with a diverse group of colleagues
- Excellent verbal and written communication, including presentation/facilitation skills to a broad range of audiences, effective influencing and negotiating skills
- Possess the ability to introduce and effectively facilitate change
- Proven ability to think critically and use sound judgment in assessing difficult situations, coupled with the ability to take a creative and proactive approach to problem recognition, problem solving and conflict resolution
- Demonstrated commitment to professional development
- Demonstrated engagement and commitment to WCH vision mission and values
- Demonstrated record of good performance and acceptable attendance will be considered as part of the selection criteria.
- Professional behaviour and communication that meets the standards of the professional regulatory college or association, as applicable, and the standards of Women’s College Hospital.
