Your Opportunity:
The Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) Position is responsible for providing perioperative patient care using the nursing process in accordance with CARNA, operating Room Nurses Association of Canada (ORNAC), and CSA standards of practice. The RN will demonstrate competence in delivering safe, effective and efficient care in both a scrub, circulating and a recovery role as an integral part of their surgical team. The incumbent must be able to meet the require physical demands of the position which include lifting, pulling and pushing, walking, standing, transferring and transporting patients and equipment frequently. The nurse is responsible to provide safe care throughout the patient stay in the surgical suite. The RN promotes the professional role and evaluates own professional education and clinical practice standards. The scope of practice is a continuum ranging from basic to advanced clinical nursing activities. The nurse will practice using evidence-based measure and outcomes. The nurse is a patient advocate and provides a link between the units and operating room. The nurse draws on a unique body of nursing knowledge. The Canmore OR RN provides preoperative and intra operative care to a high volume of patients in a fast-paced growing environment to multiple services including general surgery, vascular surgery, gynecological surgery, and endoscopy procedure room activity. Hours of work include on call after hours and weekends.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58 /hour - $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:
Post grad course in peri-operative nursing or equivalent experience. 2-3 years clinical experience in an operative room focused on general services. Current membership with SCORNA. Connect Care Training.
Preferred Qualifications:
Additional knowledge and expertise working in an endoscopy unit.
