ALTERNATE SUBSTITUTE TEACHER
Are you interested in Teaching? Do you have a Bachelor’s Degree?
As a minimum requirement, successful candidates will have an academic qualification of a bachelor’s degree or is in the fourth year of a five-year integrated Bachelor of Education program or is enrolled in a two-year Bachelor of Education program.
Upon completion of receiving a permit to teach, successful candidates will be substitute teachers on an on-call basis for Tri-County Regional Centre for Education Schools located in Digby, Shelburne, & Yarmouth Counties.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Math, Science, English, French, Business, Arts or related field;
- Qualify for a Permit to Teach;
- Experience working with children is an asset;
- Proven ability to communicate and work alongside diverse cultural and racial backgrounds;
Characteristics
- Have excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills;
- Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team;
- Demonstrated ability to value the voice and contribution of others while remaining open to corrective criticism;
- Have the ability to maintain confidentiality in all issues related to student, parents and school.
Accountabilities
- Follow a substitute teaching plan as provided by the School;
- Promote and facilitate positive interactions among all students;
- Model appropriate problem solving and conflict resolution;
- Communicate effectively with School Administration, teachers, school personnel and students;
- Abide by regional policies;
- Respect privacy and confidentiality.
SECURITY CHECKS:
The Tri-County Regional Centre for Education requires that all newly hired employees provide a satisfactory Child Abuse Register Check and Criminal Record / Vulnerable Sector Checks. If you have current security checks less than 3 months old you can attach these checks to your profile / resume, otherwise, you will receive instructions once a decision has been made on your application.
