Business Systems Analyst (8-Month Contract with Options to Extend)
Location: New Westminster, BC / Hybrid
Staffing Placement Opportunity
Contract Term: 8 months with potential for extension (subject to funding approval and performance)
General Description
Our client is seeking a Business Systems Analyst to provide senior-level functional and technical services within the enterprise. The successful candidate will contribute to full system life-cycle projects, including solution analysis, operational support, technical documentation, stakeholder engagement, and service delivery. They may also be assigned to additional projects within the organization, depending on fit and qualifications.
Responsibilities
The Business Systems Analyst will deliver a wide range of services and contribute to the client’s system support and project delivery needs, including but not limited to:
- Functional and system-level analysis of business processes
- Technical application support and incident resolution
- Solution delivery and technical advisory
- Cross-functional stakeholder engagement, including internal technical teams and third-party vendors
- Support and contribute to solution architecture and integration initiatives
- Development and maintenance of system documentation, including Sustainment Plans and Knowledge Base articles
- End-to-end testing (functional, integration, UAT) and test case creation
- Defining user access controls and security requirements
- Contribution to disaster recovery planning and testing
- Researching best practices and providing recommendations for system improvement
- Support agile delivery through backlog grooming, task estimation, and sprint activities
- Engagement in Organizational Change Management (OCM) activities including training plan input and impact assessments
Deliverables
The successful candidate will be expected to produce and contribute to the following deliverables, customized to the role’s scope and project assignments:
- Application and support documentation (creation, modification, consumption)
- Vendor communications and facilitation documents
- Functional and technical solution documentation
- Test cases and validation records
- Knowledge Base updates and Sustainment documentation
- Service ticket updates and resolution notes
- Agile delivery tracking (using client-approved tools and frameworks)
- Weekly project or support status updates
Knowledge & Experience
To be considered for this position, candidates must possess the following qualifications:
- Minimum 5+ years of advanced experience in technical analysis and business systems support
- Proven experience supporting enterprise applications within IT environments following best practices such as ITIL, Lean, DevOps, Agile, and Modern Service Management
- Experience working with Transit Systems is a strong asset
- Experience working in a government or public sector environment is an asset
- Strong understanding of both on-premise and SaaS-based applications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, or related field is an asset
- Strong documentation skills, including the ability to create diagrams, technical plans, and process flows
- Ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels including executives, managers, technical teams, and end-users
- Proficiency in standard MS Office applications including MS Visio
