Systems Operations Coordinator – Children and Family Services
Location: #200-12308 111 Ave, Edmonton, AB

Position Status: Full time (40 hours/week), One Year Contract
Reporting to the Senior Operations Manager, and working collaboratively with the IT Manager, the Systems Operations Coordinator is committed to enhancing the Children and Family Services (CFS) Department data management and systems processes to best serve Métis Albertans. The Systems Operations Coordinator will ensure new software and systems are successfully integrated into the Children and Family Services Department’s operations by managing installation, customization, training, and troubleshooting to meet specific department objectives. This role will act as a liaison between technical teams and end-users to facilitate smooth adoption of new technologies and optimize current technologies. This role requires experience with system installation and configuration, user training, and project and change management. The successful candidate will have some knowledge of Children’s Services processes, a good understanding of Métis culture and values, and possess excellent analytical, communication, and relationship building skills.
Note: The Otipemisiwak Métis Government IT team will maintain general oversight of systems operations and data management. The Systems Operations Coordinator will be focused on implementation and optimal use of software specific to the CFS department, due to the scope of work and rapidly growing needs of the department. The parties will be required to work together to streamline services and ensure shared knowledge.
Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement the department’s systems strategy in alignment with organization objectives.
-
Work collaboratively with the IT Manager and third-party IT personnel to ensure alignment of strategies and completion of services through the correct channels.
-
Stay up to date with emerging technologies and trends to recommend innovative improvements to business operations. Where applicable, facilitate transitions to new systems.

Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs to end-users on new and current system features and functionalities.
-
Troubleshoot staff systems requests, including but not limited to account or general systems issues.
-
Lead or support systems projects, from initial concept through to successful completion, in collaboration with the IT Manager.

Ensure projects are completed on time and within scope of directives.

Work closely with the Children and Family Services team to understand their systems’ needs and develop solutions to improve productivity.

Communicate and collaborate effectively with CFS management and senior leadership.
-
Other duties as required or assigned.
Skills & Competencies:
-
Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Office 365, Teams, Excel, Etc.)

Excellent technical skills and hands-on experience with software configuration and troubleshooting.
-
Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to be flexible and allocate time and resources effectively.
-
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and requirements in fast-paced or high-pressure environments.
-
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
-
Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
-
Strong political and cultural sensitivity.
-
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
-
Ability to facilitate presentations, provide and receive feedback, and foster positive relationships.
-
Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills.

Ability to identify issues and implement creative and strategic solutions to overcome problems.
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
-
Two (2) years’ experience working in Systems Operations.
-
Proven experience in developing and implementing programs, including planning and facilitating trainings and presentations.
-
Experience with Penelope, Intelligenz, & Asana is an asset.
-
Indigenous Awareness Training is an asset.
-
Working knowledge of the Child and Youth Enhancement Act, Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, and Protection of Personal Information Act is an asset.
Other Requirements:
-
The position will be based in Edmonton. In office attendance is required.
-
Ability to work a regular schedule from Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM, with occasional evenings and weekends as required.
-
Ability to travel throughout the province of Alberta, with notice. Must have a driver’s license and an operational vehicle.

Clear Vulnerable Sector Police Information Check with renewal every two years is required.

Clear Child Intervention Record Check with renewal every two years is required.
