The Senior Director of Financial Planning and Analysis will be responsible for creating and maintaining procedures to identify areas of risk and opportunities in the company's performance by analyzing emerging trends. This includes developing key metrics for performance management. The role involves collaborating with financial and operational teams to review reporting, analysis, and system needs to identify areas for improvement. The Senior Director will also be responsible for financial planning, requiring a comprehensive understanding of key business drivers and the ability to develop practical financial models to provide insightful, value-added analysis across the company. Additionally, the role includes overseeing financial forecast and budget processes, metric development, analysis, reporting, ad hoc analysis, and decision support.

How You’ll Help

  • Leads the Company’s annual, quarterly, and monthly budgeting and financial forecasting and analysis programs to ensure alignment with Company goals.
  • Develop and implement financial and operational KPIs across all departments to track performance and drive accountability
  • Oversee the Company’s capital expenditure cycle, including approvals, forecasting and ensuring adherence to Company policies
  • Provides strategic financial support and direction to the business units, enabling informed decision making that aligns with the company's objectives.
  • Working closely with finance team during month end and year end close activities including accruals, reconciliations and ensuring accurate financial reporting.
  • Analyze various financial assignments, projects, and challenges, providing actionable recommendations to enhance performance and mitigate risk.
  • Train, mentor, and provide constructive feedback to team members to foster professional growth and enhance team capabilities.
  • Keeps the AVP of Corporate Controller informed of progress, challenges, and any significant issues that may arise in the financial reporting and analysis processes, ensuring transparency and collaboration
  • Perform ad hoc financial analysis as needed to support strategic initiatives and decision-making processes.
  • Engage in other related projects and responsibilities as required, adapting to the evolving needs of the organization.

Your Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or a related field; with an Accounting Designation (CPA)
  • 7-8 years of progressive business/finance experience, including planning and budgeting
  • Experience in the transportation industry an asset
  • Proven experience in corporate budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting.
  • Proficient in finance modeling and advanced Excel skills. Experience with financial software and ERP systems is in considered an asset
  • Exceptional numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Leadership skills and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet/exceed deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and to collaborate with a team
  • Strong MS Office skills, particularly Excel
  • Excellent communication skills, both written & verbal
  • Up to 25% percent of travel will be required
