Within our Busch Service Department, the Medical Service Technician joins a team dedicated to the maintenance of medical gas distribution networks. He/she is responsible for maintaining, validating, and verifying the proper operation of hospital and clinical equipment providing critical patient care in a safe manner. In addition, the technician is committed to meeting the needs of internal and external customers by ensuring excellent customer service while promoting Busch's safety and quality practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performs preventive maintenance on the medical gas distribution network, such as high pressure medical gas cylinders, medical air systems, medical vacuum systems, outlets and alarm panels to ensure an uninterrupted supply of medical gases to patients.
  • Diagnoses and replaces/repairs medical gas system components according to manufacturer's standards to ensure proper operation while putting patient's safety first;
  • Generates maintenance and deficiency reports on medical gas systems to comply with regulatory requirements (e.g., CSA Z7396, NFPA 55 and ASME B31.3);
  • Manages and updates hospital and clinical equipment records for each facility;
  • Identifies value-added opportunities in our service offering at visited customers;
  • Supports the sales team by providing technical expertise and sharing opportunities to win contracts;
  • Communicates effectively with customers and suppliers when necessary;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education And Qualifications Required.

  • 2-3 years prior service and maintenance experience (preferably in a healthcare environment);
  • High school diploma;
  • Mechanical affinity and experience in repair, maintenance, calibration and installation of electrical, pneumatic and electronic healthcare equipment would be an asset;
  • Valid driver's license;
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office environment;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving and customer service skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Ability to work and travel independently
  • Work is carried out in mechanical rooms (boiler rooms) in hospitals and also in rooms occupied by patients
  • Ability to be on the road up to 50% of the time (depending on workload, replacing other team members, etc.). Some contracts may require full weeks away (always in Canada)
  • The work schedule is Monday to Friday (40 hours/week)
  • Some services require evening or weekend work
  • May, on occasion, respond to emergency calls, travel to customer sites to find solutions to identified problems at any time of the day or week, including weekends

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 27 kg (60 lb) unassisted
  • Ability to use light equipment
