Primary Responsibilities The Retail Development Supervisor is responsible for supervising and training all Territory Managers in assigned territories. Identifies and pursues opportunities to increase sales of current and new items. The position requires accountability for sales, sales forecasting, marketing plan development, marketing plan execution, overall store conditions and expense control. The Retail Development Supervisor is also responsible for developing subordinate staff and staff planning. Essential Functions

  • Support and participate in food safety programs including SQF (Safe Quality Food).
  • The Retail Development Supervisor directs work of assigned Territory Managers which includes: establish deadlines; provide guidance and direction on selling and company rules and regulations.
  • Train Territory Managers on the functions of their position and provide backup support for Territory Managers when needed.
  • Complete detailed work with reports
  • Assist Retail Development Manager with performance reviews & performance coaching of associates.
  • Assist the Retail Development Manager in hiring of new Territory Managers.
  • Assist in maintaining sales budgets & controlling expenses.
  • Prospect for new business, gain additional business in existing accounts & executes marketing plans.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of goal & objectives for the Sales Department. Forecast the Sales Plan & recommend changes.
  • Generate reports & tracks sales & assigned areas overall performance and store condition using approved procedures.
  • Review GAP’s monthly and review with Territory Managers regularly. Monitor and track new listings and distribution achieved by banner by Territory Manager monthly. Provide monthly detailed reports to Retail Development Manager
  • Participate in resets and/or promotional / marketing planning for assigned customers.
  • Assist in resolving store issues by working with store management and enlist appropriate company support.
  • Attend and participate in Trade Shows as requested.
  • Maintain strong product knowledge.

Minimum Requirements, Qualifications, Additional Skills, Aptitude

  • Should have a minimum of two (2) years proven experience as a supervisor
  • Minimum of three (3) years sales/marketing experience in food sector or consumer packaged products.
  • Bachelor’s degree in sales and/or marketing preferred.
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Have strong organization and time management skills with ability to work independently without direct on-site supervision. High energy level, comfortable performing multi-faceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities. Resourceful, well organized, dependable, efficient and detailed-oriented. Ability to establish credibility and be decisive but can recognize and support the organization’s preferences and priorities
  • Demonstrated analytical skills, superior organizational and multi-tasking skills, strong negotiation skills
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written) and fluent in English with above average presentation skills with ability to speak effectively before groups of employees, management and key trade accounts
  • Excellent interpersonal abilities, ability to get along with diverse personalities and develop strong business relationships; tactful, mature, and flexible. Good reasoning abilities and sound judgment
  • Sales oriented with strong communication skills (oral and written) and fluent in English with above average presentation skills
  • Must have ability to present for sales a wide variety of products and understand retailer and customer preferences to select products to recommend
  • Must be able to follow information in a schematic format.

  • Willing to work 3-4 days a week on the road, including out of town and overnight travel
  • Must have current and valid driver’s license and proof of insurance and be able to travel
