Chief of Staff or municipal operations lead, with the added ability to support and oversee cybersecurity-related programs. This role is ideal for someone with experience in municipal administration who thrives in dynamic environments, understands the political landscape, and can manage day-to-day operations across multiple departments.
This person will be the go-to for driving communication, tracking updates across initiatives, keeping leadership informed, and ensuring cross-functional alignment, especially in cybersecurity and technology-related programs.
Leadership & Operations
- Act as a trusted right hand to senior IT and city leadership, helping drive strategic initiatives and manage day-to-day activity.
- Coordinate between various departments, ensuring the flow of information and decisions is timely, accurate, and politically sound.
- Track progress across cybersecurity and IT initiatives, ensuring risks, blockers, and updates are surfaced and addressed promptly.
- Prepare daily and weekly updates for leadership, summarizing project status, risks, departmental needs, and key developments.
Communication & Political Awareness
- Draft and edit clear, professional internal communications, memos, and talking points for IT and cyber-related topics.
- Communicate cross-departmentally in a politically sensitive and thoughtful manner—especially when working with legal, communications, and executive leadership.
- Present updates and briefings to senior leaders, elected officials, or the broader public as required.
- Translate complex or technical updates into digestible, actionable information for a variety of audiences.
Cybersecurity Program Coordination
- Support oversight of cyber programs and projects (e.g., awareness campaigns, IAM rollouts, vendor coordination).
- Ensure timelines, reporting, and accountability are maintained across all cyber-related activities.
- Assist in coordinating post-incident responses, lessons learned sessions, and stakeholder communication.
- Serve as a liaison between technical teams, vendors, and business leadership to keep security initiatives moving smoothly.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in municipal or public sector roles, ideally as a Chief of Staff, Operations Manager, or similar strategic support function.
- Strong understanding of municipal governance, organizational dynamics, and political sensitivity.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills-written, verbal, and presentation.
- Experience supporting or managing large-scale programs or cross-departmental initiatives.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity programs or IT environments is a strong asset but not required to be technical.
- Highly organized, proactive, and comfortable navigating complexity and ambiguity.
