About the Job

We are looking for an Attendant - Student at our Walker Compost Facility in Thorold, ON. Reporting to the Operations Manager for Niagara, the incumbent is responsible for directing organic waste brought in to the Niagara compost site. This includes ensuring that specific types of waste are dropped off at the appropriate brush piles. The incumbent will also be responsible for some landscaping and general cleaning around the residential brush pile. This position involves exercising good judgement and discretion to ensure that waste is diverted properly by visitors and contractors. All work performed shall comply with health and safety and environmental legislation, policies and procedures.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Observe and inspect organic waste brought to the compost site, ensuring that it is directed correctly to the appropriate brush piles.
  • Direct visitors and contractors to the correct brushpiles.
  • Have waste removed from brushpiles if incorrectly placed and redirect it to the correct location.
  • Good communication skills when interacting with external visitors, contractors and members of the public.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to established safety protocols and best work practices.
