About the role
Are you passionate about maintaining high standards in facility operations and ensuring a safe, efficient, and well-maintained environment? Longo’s is looking for a Facilities Specialist to support our stores and facilities across the organization. Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Facilities, you’ll play a key role in maintaining our buildings and equipment, supporting maintenance programs, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements—all while contributing to cost-effective operations and exceptional service delivery.
What you’ll do:
- Coordinate and execute preventative maintenance programs, ensuring Longo’s facilities are safe, compliant, and operating efficiently
- Support emergency response efforts including power outages, equipment failures, and other urgent facility issues
- Manage vendor relationships and service contracts, ensuring quality, compliance, and cost-effectiveness
- Conduct regular site evaluations and inspections, identifying and resolving deficiencies in a timely manner
• Maintain and update CMMS tools, documentation, and reporting systems for maintenance and project tracking • Collaborate with the Facilities Manager to implement quality and performance management practices, including vendor KPIs, scorecards, procedures, checklists, schedules, and QA audits
- Support the development and execution of facility-related programs such as energy and waste management initiatives
- Assist in the preparation of business cases, cost-benefit analyses, and post-project evaluations
- Review and approve invoices, monitor utility costs, and track refrigerant losses and recycling programs
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and Food Safety standards, promoting a culture of safety across all locations
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external contractors to ensure timely and effective issue resolution
What we are looking for:
- Post-secondary education in Mechanical, Building Sciences, or Electrical fields
- Minimum 5 years of experience in facilities management or a related field
- Strong knowledge of building systems including HVAC, refrigeration, lighting, and fire protection
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Experience with AutoCAD and CMMS tools
- Understanding of food safety requirements in a retail environment
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and customer service abilities
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Valid Class G driver’s license and willingness to travel regularly to store locations
Working Conditions:
- Primarily office-based with regular travel to Longo’s stores and facilities
- On-call availability required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays for emergency support
- Exposure to various facility environments and conditions during site visits and inspections
