This position provides support for the design, development and delivery of agri-environmental programming related to regenerative agriculture, carbon sequestration and biodiversity enhancement and provides advice and recommendations to Management and Senior Management, as well as to the industry and the public regarding regenerative agriculture.

Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Provide technical advice to producers and colleagues for the development and implementation of beneficial management practice projects to support adoption of regenerative agriculture practices and enhance provision of farmland Ecological Goods and Services;
  • Apply and maintain knowledge and expertise related to regenerative agriculture; including the provision of ecological goods and services from farmland, strategies to enhance carbon sequestration, increase landscape diversity and resilience, and increase farm adaptive capacity to climate change;
  • Serve as a technical and project advisor for specific components of various Federal/Provincial agri-environmental programs, including the Alternate Land use Services (ALUS) Program;
  • Undertake assessments of farmland ecosystem goods and services;
  • Conduct high quality research and provide quality advice and assistance regarding best practices and innovations in regenerative agriculture strategies, ecological goods and services programming, and agri-environmental programming;
  • Develop farmland monitoring protocols and processes to validate and verify project outcomes; including biodiversity assessments;
  • Review project proposals to ensure that they meet the program criteria;
  • Monitor the ongoing status of agri-environmental projects;
  • Provide follow up and support to agricultural clients of agri-environmental programs and services;
  • Other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have a Degree (Master’s of Science) in Environmental Science, Agriculture, or related field of study with considerable experience in Environmental or Agronomy services, Agri-environmental Conservation projects, or Climate Change Mitigation or Adaptation in Agriculture;
    OR
  • Have a Degree (Bachelor’s of Science) in Environmental Science, agriculture, or related field of study with extensive experience in Environmental or Agronomy Services, Agri-Environmental Conservation projects, or Climate Change Mitigation or Adaptation in Agriculture.
  • Demonstrated equivalencies will be considered.
  • Must have experience in computer applications including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGISEnterprise, ArcGIS Online: including creating, maintaining and editing geospatial datasets, dashboards and applications and developing GIS workflows to answer questions and run statistics as needed.
  • Must have experience in project management involving a diverse set of partners and deliverables.
  • Must have experience and understanding of agriculture industry related to environmental conservation.
  • Must have excellent skills in project management, communication, conflict resolution, organization and extension practices.
  • Must have a valid Prince Edward Island driver’s license.

Other Qualifications:

  • The successful applicant must provide a satisfactory Criminal Records Check prior to beginning employment.
  • Experience with Python and Arcade coding and ArcGIS Pro Builder would be considered an asset.
