The Opportunity At BC Ferries, we connect more than communities; we connect people, perspectives, and possibilities. We’re looking for a Senior Engagement Advisors to join our dynamic External Engagement team as we implement Let’s Connect , our renewed company-wide engagement strategy.
In this role, you’ll develop and deliver thoughtful engagement strategies that support capital projects, policy decisions, company planning, and initiatives across the organization. You will lead meaningful conversations with communities, partners, governments, and interest groups to ensure diverse voices are heard and reflected in our work.
You’ll also play a key role in drafting and developing engagement materials—from strategic plans and meeting notes to display boards, newsletters, and digital content—all designed to inform and involve our stakeholders in shaping the future of coastal transportation.
The Role Reporting to the Manager, Community Relations, you add value and are energized by key areas of oversight such as:
- Drafting and developing engagement strategies and plans for company-wide/corporate and external engagements to support policy development, planning and projects with various teams throughout the company;
- Managing workload while supporting several projects simultaneously, working in close collaboration with BC Ferries public affairs and marketing staff and those from other divisions, and external interest groups;
- Working independently to produce high profile engagement products that require little revision;
- Responding to requests from communities, partners and interest groups as needed;
- Proactively identifying engagement opportunities, and acting as a public representative of BC Ferries;
What You Bring To The Team
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, public affairs, community engagement or equivalent
- A different education in combination with the required years of experience may be considered Familiarity with International Association of Public Participation (IAP2) foundations and facilitation skills are strongly preferred
- 4-6 years of experience in a public relations or external engagement or communications role with high public visibility. Candidates with established interest holder connections are highly preferred
- 4-6 years of experience in drafting engagement materials, coordinating day-to-day engagement activities, planning events and workshops, and facilitating group conversations
- 4-6 years of experience managing internal resources and contract suppliers
- Proven record of creating, leading and delivering impactful engagement strategies and plans aligned to business objectives
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with ability to build effective relationships at all levels, both internally and externally

Additional Information The target salary range: $83,500 - $104,300 per annum. The starting salary is determined based on the successful candidate’s knowledge, experience and internal equity.
