JOB SUMMARY

Island Community Mental Health uses national standards to guide our organization to effectively examine and improve the quality and safety of our services, and achieve excellence in all areas (i.e. governance, service delivery, leadership, medication management, infection prevention and control) of the organization.

To further help serve our community, we are looking for compassionate and dedicated employee to join our team.

In accordance with the vision, purpose and values of ICMH clients/tenants and staff safety is a priority and responsibility shared by everyone at ICMH, as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Travel to multiple worksites and the use of a personal vehicle are requirements of this position.

DUTIES

· Establishes, monitors and carries out preventative maintenance schedule on all buildings, grounds and equipment. Ensures building and equipment meet all safety, security, and fire regulations and policies. Makes recommendations for major repairs and purchases to Manager;

· Performs carpentry, electrical, painting, mechanical, and plumbing maintenance and repairs such as repairing furniture, constructing shelves, installing switches, replacing plugs and other basic appliance repairs, applying paint and other finishes, repairing drywall, disassembling and reassembling equipment, replacing sinks and toilets, and applying finishing material such as linoleum;

· Provides contractors access to buildings/unit requiring work to be complete and informs Manager when work is completed. Receives direction from Manager to contact external contractors as required.

· Monitors maintenance and housekeeping supplies. Places purchase order with external suppliers, receives supplies, checks orders and goods received, stores and distributes supplies and contacts suppliers to obtain and provide general information.

· Provides clients and or tenants with basic information related to the building.

· Collects and removes garbage and recyclable materials, and ensures the safe disposal of hazardous waste;

· Cleans external areas such as entryways, sidewalks, and parking lots using manual and power brooms, rakes, shovels, and other equipment to remove dirt, leaves, snow, and other refuse. Performs minor gardening, pruning, mowing and watering of grounds;

· Completes related records and documents such as maintenance sheets and incident reports;

· Transports equipment, furniture, and supplies manually and/or using aides such as dollies and carts;

· Participates in the Maintenance-On-Call rotation.

QUALIFICATIONS

Typical Education, Training and Experience:

· Grade 12

· Certificate in First Aid

· Recent, related experience of two years

Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience

Or other Qualifications determined to be reasonable and relevant to the level of work

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

· Clear criminal record check through the Solicitor’s General Office

· Up-to-date on Provincial immunization schedule

· Clear TB test

· Owns Vehicle

· Valid Driver’s License

Pay: $25.18 per hour
