About the role

Athabasca University's Learning Services Tutorial Department is seeking an Individualized Study Tutorfor the following course:

WGST 310: Feminist Approaches to Counselling Women

Qualifications and Experience Required: A minimum of a Master's degree required (PhD preferred) in Womens and Gender Studies (preferred)or Counselling Psychology (preferred), Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Critical Disability Studies, Indigenous Studies or a related interdisciplinary field.

The successful candidate should have a combination of professional, research, pedagogical, and/or advocacy expertise relating to feminist psychology and social justice approaches to mental health. In particular, a background in feminist-centered counseling, psychotherapy, and/or community-based healing are significant qualifications. Teaching experience is required. Fluency in issues relating to feminist ethics, trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, gendered and racialized violence, decolonization, intersectionality, social determinants of health, will also be an asset.

The successful candidate will have subject matter expertise and be responsible for providing academic assistance to students, marking assignments, and assigning and recording final grades. Experience in distance learning and familiarity with digital teaching technologies and online course delivery is preferred. Experience with adult education and Moodle online course delivery is also an asset.

Along with the academic credentials mentioned above, this position requires excellent communication, organization, administration and online/computer skills.The successful candidate should have a demonstrated ability to maintain a high academic standard, solve problems, address students' work and inquiries promptly and to the University's Service Standards, and maintain accurate records.

First consideration will be given to internal applicants according to Article 7 of The Board/CUPE Collective Agreement, followed by those candidates who are able to work from Alberta and then those who are able to work from within Canada.

Non-doctoral prepared employees: $243.25 prorated per block, per biweekly pay and/or $31.01 per hour.

Doctoral prepared employees: $252.98 prorated per block, per biweekly pay and/or $32.24 per hour.
