POSITION OVERVIEW
BCW Traffic Management Ltd. is a leading traffic control company in BC looking for an experienced Dispatcher who will work closely with ownership and management team in the pursuit of successful execution of projects. As a key member of the operations team, the Dispatcher will have the opportunity to have influence on daily operations. This position works in our Surrey head office and reports directly to the Supervisor of BCW Traffic Management Ltd.
The ideal candidate will have early morning availability. Regular working hour is 5 am to 1 pm. They are seeking an opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment and will thrive in a positive, team oriented and supportive culture.
The Dispatcher is required to communicate with Lane Closure Technicians (LCTs) and Traffic Control Personnel (TCPs) to assist with problem resolution while on route. Furthermore, handling incoming service orders, directs TCPs and LCTs, and resolves service issues. Interacts with customers, including customer service, sales, and operational staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Schedule service and satisfy customer needs for service changes.
- Ensure that service is completed in accordance with established policies.
- Dispatch calls to routes based upon designated route and driver location.
- Perform field staff check-ins at day’s beginning to ensure nobody is late to work or no show.
- Be the Administrator to maintain Connecteam APP.
- Ensure coordination with other departments.
- Interacts with customers and subcontractors.
- Work with Operations management to optimize routes and dispatch.
- Trouble shoot and resolves potential problems before they result in customer complaints.
- Assist in determining daily dispatch and provide best mix of worker experience, equipment capability, and customer requirements.
- Record and document information from staff and customers and distribute to appropriate internal departments.
- Manage truck maintenance.
- Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally via email and telephone.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
- 1-2 years in a traffic control, transportation, construction, dispatch, or customer service role.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong customer focus.
- Proven ability to multi-task & ability to prioritize tasks.
- Proficient in MS Outlook, Excel, Word.
- Knowledge of industry an asset.
- Advanced skill level with software applications and word processing accuracy including adequate typing speed.
- Required to work extended hours including occasional weekends.
- Possess Connecteam experience but not mandatory, as long as possess desire and ability to learn the system, needs to possess advanced computer skills.
- Additional or specialized training in construction, transportation, logistics, or similar area of study; customer service experience in a call center environment.
- Minimum grade 12 education, college diploma in related disciplines is an asset.
