Working for the Department of Agricultural, Food & Nutritional Science (AFNS)

The Department of Agricultural, Food & Nutritional Science (AFNS) offers research and teachings related to the fields of Animal Science, Food Science and Bioresource, Human Nutrition and Plant Biosystems.

AFNS offers undergraduate Bachelor of Science degrees in Agriculture, Animal Health, Agricultural/Food Business Science and Nutrition & Food Science each with a variety of majors. AFNS students can also pursue a course-based or thesis-based Master of Agriculture, Master of Science or a PhD.

Position Summary

This role is ideal for someone who brings scientific understanding and people skills together to support the execution of a randomized controlled trial (RCT). You will be the liaison between the investigators, clinical teams, and study participants ensuring smooth communication, accurate data collection, and seamless trial coordination. From assessing participant eligibility and administering questionnaires to maintaining source documentation and tracking study progress, your contributions will directly shape the success of this research.

If you have a background in areas such as nutrition, metabolism, or kinesiology and thrive on independent work with purpose, this position offers a chance to make meaningful impact in a collaborative research setting.

Qualifications

  • Education & Training: Minimum of a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Nutrition, Metabolism, Kinesiology, or a related health science field. MSc or PHD are an asset.
  • Completion of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training is required.
  • Experience: Demonstrated experience coordinating or supporting clinical research studies. Applicants should have experience recruiting and interacting with study participants, the process of informed consent and managing confidential health data
  • Skills & Competencies: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with participants and research staff; Ability to interpret study protocols and present essential information concisely. Must have proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with RedCap data systems. Phlebotomy skills are desirable but not mandatory.
