About the role
Sweet Thea Bakery is looking for a morning baker to join our team at our new Vancouver location at 32nd and Main Street.
You will be responsible for baking all our naturally leavened, cold fermented sourdough breads and our pastry line up which includes fruit tarts, scones, muffins, croissants, and other sweet and savory items. Other responsibilities include ssome finishing work, such as assembling almond croissant and cream puffs, yogurt parfaits, making granola, building cakes, and pulling pastries for the next day’s bake off.
Requirements for the position
Good communication skills are mandatory as you will be in daily contact with our production team in Langley and notifying them what is needed at the Main St location. You must have previous experience working in a real bakery - we do not use premixes,but bake most of our items from scratch; and you must generally have an eye for correct colouring and product doneness. If your only experience is in fast food you will not be called in for an interview.
The right candidate must be comfortable working early mornings, and able to commute easily to be on time, as the shift starts at 4am on weekdays, and 3am on weekends. You will get two consecutive days off every week.
Wages are $22 and hour plus weekly tips.
A free staff meal is provided every shift.
Fully paid benefits are available after 6 months.
