Reporting to the Foreman, a Labourer is responsible for providing physical labour support during all phases of construction and production, such as, hand work, moving materials, clearing terrain, site preparation, shoveling and basic equipment operation.
How You’ll Add Value
- Actively contribute to the safety culture, promoting a safe and productive work environment
- Load, unload, and move construction materials around the site
- Set up, remove, and manage traffic control signs and devices; direct traffic as needed
- Signal equipment operators to assist with material alignment and movement
- Spread gravel and construction materials using a rake or shovel
- Shovel test holes, mark locations, and safely expose live utilities
- Operate equipment such as tampers or other equipment as required
- Perform in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt
What You Bring
- Prior experience as a labourer in heavy civil construction is an asset
- Physically able to safely lift and carry 40 lbs regularly
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a Driver’s Abstract showing no more than 6 demerits and no major infractions
- Willing to travel and work out of town for short, fixed-term periods, as needed

Mainline Construction (2014) Ltd. is a privately held heavy civil construction company in Grande Prairie, AB. As a safety-first, reputable contractor with over 20 years of operations in the region, Mainline employs over 100 individuals, operates an aggregate washing facility, and several aggregate and sand mining sites while also providing earthworks and deep utility servicing to many urban and industrial land developers in the Grande Prairie area. Mainline is a subsidiary of Volker Stevin, one of the largest heavy civil construction and highway maintenance contractors in Western Canada operating in the region since 1978.
