What you will experience in this position:
- Attend kick-off and status meeting with the project management team and client representatives.
- Perform project setup tasks.
- Distribute and maintain project specific design information to the employees working on IHS projects.
- Provide time coding direction to all engineering employees working on IHS projects.
- Provide technical support to designers, and to the procurement and construction departments as required.
- Ensure the Engineering department work processes, data management tools, Enterprise and Project Design Guides and CAD standards are being observed on IHS projects.
- Perform quality audits on completed work for consistency, optimization, and adherence to project requirements.
- Identify and communicate proposed solutions to any emerging issues which are likely to impact cost, schedule, quality/design integrity, safety, or interface with construction.
- Report Production Inventory (available work) and deployed resources to support scheduling.
- Monitor design progress of assigned projects to ensure scheduled work is completed on time.
- Report and document project, technical, and work process related problems.
- Receive, review, and manage changes to all client documents and Tracer deliverables.
- Assemble and release work packages for all engineering deliverables in order of priority as determined by the project schedule.
- Interact with Project Manager and/or client Representative to facilitate information transfer for the project.
- Manage Requests for Information (RFI’s) and analyze and process Design Change Notices (DCN’s).
- Track scope completion and control all working copy documents.
- Work on engineering deliverables as time allows.
- Submit software bugs or enhancements to development team.
- Provide mentoring support to Designers as required.
- Occasionally support projects at site as time allows.
You have:
- An engineering degree from an accredited university or a technology diploma from a recognized college in the Electrical or Mechanical disciplines is preferred.
- 2-5 years of experience as a Design Engineer or Field Engineer specializing in EHT is preferred.
- 2-5 years of experience as a Engineering Project Lead, Project Engineer, and/or Project Manager is preferred.
- Must be either formally registered, or in training, to be a Professional Engineer or Professional Technologist in the Province of Alberta and have specific knowledge of the Alberta Engineering and Geoscience Professions Act, APEGA Regulations, APEGA Code of Ethics, APEGA By-Laws, ASET Regulations, and APEGA Professional Technologists Regulations - particularly as they apply to the relevant application of members' stamps and Permit to Practice approvals on issued drawings and specifications.
- Possess solid time management skills.
- Experience with AutoCAD, MS Suites and SAP an asset
- Knowledge of basic electrical and EHT design experience is an asset
