Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Social Work Assistant to join the team supporting Richmond Hospital in Richmond, BC. Apply today to join our team!
As a Social Work Assistant with VCH you will:

  • Work under the general operational supervision of the Patient Services Manager, clinical supervision from the Practice Coordinator and receive work direction from Social Workers in a team based environment and provide social work support services during the admission and discharge of patients/clients.
  • Interview clients/families/facilities for information, assist clients to approach external resources, provide practical support to clients regarding benefits, housing, transportation, community resources, finances, and acquiring and maintaining a supply of up to date information and applications on services/agencies/resources.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Completion of a recognized Social Service Worker or Social Service Diploma Program or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.

As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks. For all new hires and appointments to Vancouver Coastal Health, you will be asked to provide this information as part of the onboarding process.
