The Security Guard will contribute to the overall success of the hotel by providing superior customer service and specialized services to the evening/night shift, while maintaining the safety standards for guests, ambassadors and property at the hotel.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides some duties that are routine and straightforward such as patrols the property, including parkade, guest floors, back offices and function rooms.
  • Also provides services of a moderately more difficult nature using problem solving and conflict resolution skills on a situational basis.
  • Responsible for considering the security and safety of the property, the Ambassadors and guests when completing tasks.
  • Secure specific areas of the hotel and complete Security checklist nightly.
  • Demonstrates knowledge about local situations and activities (i.e.,events, security concerns such as thefts) and how they may impact guest services; informs others as appropriate .
  • Provide advisory assistance in emergency situations, and contacting the necessary external authorities depending on the situation.
  • Responds to any noise complaint & possible trespassing in the property and dealt with accordingly.
  • Responds to guest requests for extra or additional amenities or items, which may include room service requests.
  • Acts as an Ambassador for Coast Hotels, including greeting guests and handling basic inquiries .
  • Follows established procedures and policies when completing tasks .
  • Operates within boundaries of authority and adheres to company policies and practices .
  • Focuses on immediate priorities.
  • Maintains health and safety standards and complies with all regulations.
  • Report any incidences in a timely manner to designate Managers.
  • Other duties as required

Skills/Knowledge/Experience:

  • Secondary school diploma
  • Alberta Basic Security Training Certificate, required
  • 12 months of related experience preferred
  • Basic level in the use of MS Office Suite
  • Ability to work flexible hours (overnight)
  • Demonstrates the Coast Core Values at all times
  • Experience with conflict resolution preferred
  • Advanced communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
  • Able to multi-task and has initiative
  • Bondable
  • Professional attitude and appearance
  • Clear understanding of all relevant operating policies and procedures
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) training
