Introduction: Robertson is seeking a skilled Data Engineer to join our client.
Contract Period: 12 months with potential to extend or convert
Pay Rate: tbd
Location : Toronto, ON
Location Type : Hybrid; onsite 3 days per week
Business Hours: Monday to Friday; 9 AM to 5 PM
Job Responsibilities
- Hands-on technical skills in developing batch and real-time data pipelines, DevOps pipelines, and end-to-end processes in Microsoft Azure data and analytics PaaS services.
- Lead the agile software development process, including roadmap planning, cross-team coordination, task assignments, code reviews, sprint demos, and design review and sign-off.
- Translate business requirements into technical solutions, collaborating with development teams, architects, and business analysts to ensure adherence to enterprise standards, architecture, and technologies.
- Deliver modernization of enterprise data solutions using Azure cloud data technologies, designing and building modern data pipelines, data streams, and data service APIs.
- Develop and maintain data warehouse schematics, layouts, architectures, and relational/non-relational databases for data access and advanced analytics.
- Expose data to end-users using Power BI, Azure API apps, or other modern visualization platforms.
- Mentor other staff members and facilitate knowledge transfer within the team and across departments.
- Identify opportunities for architectural initiatives and make recommendations to enhance scalability and robustness of platforms and solutions.
Experience & Qualification Requirements
- 8-10 years of experience in designing and developing data warehouses and ETL tools, with a focus on Azure Data Engineering
- Hands-on experience with ETL processes and automation using Azure Data Factory and Databricks and PySpark
- Strong expertise in Azure Databricks, Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL Databases, Azure Data Factory
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub, Jenkins and Azure DevOps to configure and build CI/CD pipelines
- Knowledge of BI tools such as PowerBI
- Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
- Proven ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a team-oriented, collaborative work place
