ECS Education Assistant
Permanent, Full-time Position: Start date: Immediately
TEMPO School is looking for a full-time permanent Kindergarten Aide/Supervisor at our school in southwest Edmonton. This position has a before and after-school care supervision component. The daily start time is 7:45 a.m. and end time at 3:45 p.m.
TEMPO is a provincially accredited, independent school in the Riverbend area. TEMPO has approximately 500 students in kindergarten through grade twelve and a staff of 45 teachers and support personnel.
TEMPO is an academically oriented school that employs traditional teaching methods. The students wear uniforms, classes are small – averaging about 20 students – and the school expects a high degree of civility from students and teachers. The school gives students a safe and intimate learning environment in which to acquire the fundamental skills and knowledge, the work habits and the habits of mind that are the foundation of all learning. TEMPO recognizes that parents are the primary educators of their children, and so we value the active role of parents in supporting the education of their children.
The responsibilities include:
- Copying and having materials ready
- Helping to direct the focus of students when needed
- Helping with printing/classroom work
- Cleaning up after snack time
- Setting up, assisting with and cleaning up.
- Maintain job charts/Star of the Week/Bulletin Boards/Centre Rotations
- Before and after-school care and supervision
- Pull-outs - individual and small group work
Qualifications:
- Formal training in Early Childhood Education or commensurate experience in early childhood education, daycare, or formal after school care programs would be an asset but not a requirement.
- Must be personable, reliable and organized
- Must have personal initiative and be pro-active
- Must have own transportation
- Must have a current, clean criminal and child welfare check
