About The Role Reporting to the Pharmacy Supervisor and Managing DVMs, this detail-oriented role is essential in supporting our veterinary team by ensuring the precise and timely preparation of prescriptions and the meticulous management of pharmacy stock . Success in this position requires not only a deep commitment to accuracy and organization, but also professionalism, adaptability, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
Schedule
- Full-time position
- Varying shifts including at least two afternoon shifts per week, and alternating Saturdays
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and package prescriptions as directed by veterinarians
- Review prescriptions and provide usage instructions to clients
- Be accountable and responsible for the technical aspects of both new and refill prescriptions (i.e., the correct patient, drug dosage form/route, dose, doctor)
- Communicate with clients requesting prescriptions, food and OTC products
- Manage inventory: order supplies, perform cycle counts, handle out-of-stock and expired items
- Unpack and organize incoming food and medication orders
- Process payments for pharmacy and food purchases
- Assist with administrative tasks, microchip registrations, and post-surgical patient follow-ups
- Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area
- Complete daily task lists and other duties as assigned
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Graduate of Pharmacy Technician Program in Ontario or equivalent education program, recognized by the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
- Registered as a Pharmacy Technician and in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a pharmacy setting
- Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical and medical terminology
- High attention to detail and accuracy in prescription processing
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Outstanding customer service and communication skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Proficient in computer systems and electronic record management
- Must be adaptable, reliable, and maintain confidentiality
