About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join the Westbow Group of Companies' growing Finance team. Reporting to the Controller, you’ll play a key role in leading core accounting functions and supporting strategic financial initiatives. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, are deadline-driven, and enjoy problem-solving in a collaborative team setting.
Annual Salary Range: $75,000-$100,000

What you’ll be doing
-
Manage day-to-day accounting functions, including AP, AR, journal entries, and reconciliations.
-
Oversee and support full-cycle accounting, including month-end and year-end close.
-
Prepare and analyze financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow).
-
Ensure compliance with Canadian accounting standards (ASPE & IFRS).
-
Prepare and file GST/PST returns.
-
Support the annual audit process and liaise with external auditors.
-
Develop and implement accounting policies, controls, and procedure.
-
Conduct financial analysis and provide insights to support decision-making.
-
Mentor junior accounting staff and provide technical guidance.
-
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.
-
Support process improvement initiatives within the finance department.
-
Mentor and train junior accounting staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
-
Research and apply accounting standards to resolve technical issues.
-
Maintain high-quality documentation and ensure compliance with internal controls.
What we’re looking for
-
2+ years experience in an accounting role.
-
Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in accounting.
-
CPA designation or actively working toward designated is considered an asset.
-
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and advanced understanding of GAAP.
-
Advanced understanding of Canadian GST/PST regulations.
-
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
-
Ability to stay current with accounting standards, regulations, and industry best practices.
-
Detail-oriented, analytical, and highly organized, with a commitment to accuracy and continuous improvement.
