Toronto Life at a Glance
Toronto Life is an award-winning city magazine celebrated for its fearless storytelling, investigative journalism, authoritative service packages and cultural criticism. For nearly 60 years, we have chronicled the city’s power brokers, tastemakers, scandals, politics, and cultural life with depth, wit and style.
About the role
We are seeking a dynamic, experienced editor who is obsessed with Toronto’s arts and culture scene alongside lifestyle topics including home design, travel and style. You’ll shape how Toronto Life covers the city’s ever-changing cultural scene—everything from blockbuster gallery shows and indie theatre debuts to film, TV, books, music, architecture, design, and city-shaping personalities.
This role is central to Toronto Life’s editorial growth strategy, supporting one of our top-performing verticals and contributing directly to content that drives audience growth, revenue, and brand partnerships.
This is a hybrid editorial/producer role, reporting directly to the Editor in Chief. You’ll lead content strategy and execution across multiple platforms—digital, print, social, and video. You’ll edit, assign, and write original content, while also developing new editorial franchises. The ideal candidate brings a sharp editorial eye, a finger on the pulse of cultural trends, and the organizational savvy to juggle multiple assignments with competing deadlines.
About You
You’re a strong editor and content creator with a distinctive voice, a sharp cultural radar, and a passion for multi-platform storytelling. You have a deep understanding of Toronto’s cultural landscape—its institutions, its rising talent, and its trends. You can work independently while collaborating closely with editors, writers, freelancers, designers, video producers, and social leads.
You think in formats: story packages, article angles, video clips, Instagram posts. You’re curious, opinionated, and excited to evolve how culture and lifestyle are covered for a digitally engaged audience.

- Work with the video team to produce short- and long-form video content for your verticals
