Position Overview: The Mining Support Representative plays a crucial role in executing the product support business for our mining customers. In this position, you will be responsible for building strong partnerships with both external customer contacts and internal support teams to ensure that Finning delivers unparalleled product support solutions. Your efforts will focus on maximizing customer fleet productivity and uptime through innovative solutions. Additionally, you will work to increase Finning’s parts and service market share by developing profitable, long-term product support solutions in collaboration with internal support teams and Caterpillar.

This position is based in Fort McMurray. Alternatively, if you reside in Edmonton or Calgary, it can be structured as a fly-in/fly-out role with accommodations provided at our customer’s camp location.

Job Description: Customer Focus / Product Support Sales – 70%

  • Manage the successful execution of assigned product support business for your mining accounts
  • Ensuring a strong focus of parts’ customer satisfaction (relationship building & strengthening, retention)
  • Direct timely resolutions to customer issues
  • Maintain accurate and updated customer data, including equipment populations, equipment hours, contacts.
  • Leverage customer and Finning data to develop short- and long-range parts and component forecasts and partner with the customer to validate
  • Develop and prepare, supported by internal marketing support teams, customer quotes, proposals and responses to product support RFP/RFQ
  • Coordinate and manage the proforma presentation and approval with customers
  • Attend weekly customer scheduling meetings (planning meetings, parts meetings, etc.)
  • Lead monthly meetings with your assigned customer base with documented actions
  • Proactively manage fleet components with use of component management tools
  • Build and execute product support attack plans to win in non-traditional spaces
  • Execution of contractual product support requirements and Customer Value Agreements

Relationships - 20%

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customer contacts
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal branch team and support teams within Finning and Cat.

Enterprise – 10%

  • Development and maintenance of a formal process for collecting competitive intelligence and reporting it to marketing and sales. Recognizing that the best competitive insights often come from our own field technicians, the incumbent will develop, and action processes designed to capture and report these activities.
  • Working collaboratively with supply chain share customer parts and component forecast to ensure that we have parts supply

Education & Experience:

  • Minimum 5+ years of sales experience managing large accounts.
  • Strong leadership & communication skills
  • Caterpillar 7495 experience considered an asset
  • Proven problem solver who can deliver on all project phases without direct supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to deal with sensitive issues, develop others, or persuade others inside and outside the business unit to take specific actions.
  • The successful candidate has a good understanding of best practices for mining equipment.
  • Mining heavy equipment experience or proven sound mechanical & equipment systems knowledge an asset.
  • Strong parts and service background an asset.
  • Business acumen and understanding of support systems, credit and financing.
  • Understanding Finning Systems: CTS, PTOS, INFOR M3/Lawson, Warranty, SIS
  • Understands and adheres to safety procedure
  • Experienced with various office programs MS Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
