The Opportunity:
beyond 3:30 is a unique initiative that provides after school programming focused on healthy living and learning opportunities in the arts for middle school children, Monday-Friday in one of the places they trust the most, their local school. It supports priority communities through innovative partnering between a wide variety of local community organizations and corporations. beyond 3:30 is operating in 21 select middle-school locations across the city.
We are looking for a part-time Site Coordinator to join our dynamic passionate program team. The site Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the operation of beyond 3:30 at a school site and act as the immediate supervisor responsible for the program and be accountable to the Program Supervisor.
This is a 10-month contract position with an anticipated start date of August 25, 2025 and ending on June 26, 2026, with the possibility of renewal in the next school year. The work hours are Monday to Friday, 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm, at the site, with an additional 5 hours of administrative time per week, either on or off-site. Hours may change based on program needs and school schedules. The rate of pay for this position is $21 - $22 per hour, depending on experience.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the efficient operation of the beyond 3:30 program at one school site
- Supervise program staff, volunteers and participants
- Demonstrate proactive problem-solving, conflict mediation, and behaviour management skills
- Outreach to new program partners, school staff and administrators, and community organizations that can offer program enrichment activities
- Adhere to pertinent TDSB and TFSS policies and protocols and ensure all staff and volunteers are aware of, and adhere to, these policies and protocols
- Report inappropriate behaviour or incidents that are detrimental to the effective running of beyond 3:30
- Assume responsibility for recording participants’ attendance, safe arrival and departure
- Submit weekly reports to the Program Supervisor, and attend monthly supervision meetings
- Serve as a role model in conduct and character for students in high priority communities.
Homework Help & Academic Support
- Plan and implement a variety of homework, tutorial and academic support , as well as literacy and leadership clubs. Lead discussion and debate activities
- Work with student placement volunteers to assist students with their homework,
- projects and special assignments; and with individualized literacy, numeracy and study skills tutorials
- Document activities/curriculum designed to improve study skills
Education, Requirements and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Social Work, Child & Youth Studies - an asset
- Demonstrated experience in youth programming; planning and delivery
- Demonstrated experience supervising staff and volunteers.
- Exceptional skills in facilitation, group dynamics, and effective behavior management techniques with middle school age children
- Excellent communication, leadership, interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Outstanding problem-solving and negotiation skills.
- Enthusiastic and culturally competent attitude toward working with youth in priority neighbourhoods
- Understanding of school board operations and procedures is an asset
- Must have first aid and HIGH FIVE training or are willing to obtain them shortly after being hired.

About Toronto Foundation for Student Success
Founded in 1998, the Toronto Foundation for Student Success (TFSS) was created to ensure that all students are ready and able to learn. TFSS is a registered charity and provides support to the Toronto District School Board schools (TDSB) but operates independently. Our administration costs are less than 6% which allows us to invest a minimum of 94% of all funds raised in most programs and a full 100% in others.
For over 25 years, TFSS has been building partnerships with the federal, provincial and municipal governments, the TDSB, concerned corporations and foundations, other NGOs, private individuals, families, and the many diverse communities within Toronto, to draw on the enthusiasm and expertise needed to execute its programs.
TFSS acts as an advocate for students, identifying and initiating programs to deal with the hunger and poverty experienced by students and our programs have expanded over the years as the need has escalated.
In 1999, TFSS and its partners were providing 11,000 nourishing meals every day to children in need. Today, over 218,000 nutritious meals are served daily in 827 programs.
