The Unit Manager is a critical role within our communities as it impacts the lives of residents through the strong leadership and motivation of Sienna team members.
As a Unit Manager your typical day will impact in the following ways:

Participating in the recruitment, orientation and performance management process in accordance with company standards for all team members in the nursing department.

Providing leadership, education, direction and coordination to team members to ensure assessments, and documentation is completed by team members in accordance with MOHLTC, college of Nurses, and company standards.

Monitoring and evaluating team members, providing leadership and coaching, evaluating performance, providing input during performance appraisal.
-
Participating in the identification, analysis and interpretation of trends in resident care outcomes and professional nursing practice issues in order to determine priorities for educational programming.

Ensuring ongoing communication with families to inform them of changes in health status, changes in policy.
-
Performing other duties as assigned.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

Holds a current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario.

Diploma as a Practical Nurse from a recognized Accredited Educational Institution.

A minimum of two years’ experience in Long Term Care industry or equivalent.

Clinical knowledge and skill in Gerontological Nursing.
-
Proficiency with the classification process and the funding indicators and knowledge of MOHLTC regulations and standards.

All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check.
