Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL) Engineer to support a major airport infrastructure program in Toronto. The AGL Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, and oversight of airfield lighting systems, ensuring they meet the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities

Oversee the design and implementation of the new Airfield Lighting Control and Management System for the entire airfield.

Manage the upgrade of existing airfield ground lighting to energy-efficient LED technology.

Lead the "Airside Electrical" team throughout the planning, design, and delivery phases of the program as it relates to all airside electrical systems.

Ensure that all airside electrical systems design and construction comply with technical requirements, laws, and standards through comprehensive design reviews, submittal reviews, and testing.

Provide alternative technical proposals where applicable to enhance efficiency and value.
-
Coordinate the necessary requirements for permits, approvals, and activity requests.

Manage the interface between other engineering and architectural disciplines to ensure seamless integration and coordination across sub-programs, facilities, and assets.

Facilitate design review meetings with stakeholders, address all comments, and ensure all regulatory requirements are met.
Qualifications
-
A recognized degree in Electrical Engineering.
-
Registered Professional Engineer licensed to practice in the Province of Ontario.
-
Minimum of 08 years of experience in the design, construction, and commissioning of large international aviation airfield projects.
-
Demonstrated experience in the complete redevelopment of airfield electrical infrastructure, efficient power distribution planning, and innovative technologies.
-
Proven experience working in live airport environments with phased turnover of assets.
-
Strong technical capability across all project phases, including design, planning, construction, operations, and maintenance, preferably on large-scale programs.
-
Thorough working knowledge of airfield lighting, system safety design, and electrical design/construction, operations, and maintenance.

A comprehensive understanding of stakeholder and regulatory requirements, including but not limited to ICAO, Transport Canada Aerodrome Standards, airport operations, and Underwriters Laboratories (ULC).

Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to facilitate meetings and workshops with large groups.
